The Rosemount 3051S ERS System (Electronic Remote Sensor) is Emerson's digital DP-level architecture. Instead of two oil-filled capillaries feeding one differential-pressure cell, it uses two independent 3051S pressure sensor modules — an ERS Primary (which holds the 4-20 mA HART loop termination and the optional LCD display) and an ERS Secondary — joined by an ordinary electrical cable. Each module measures its local pressure and the electronics compute the differential digitally. On tall vessels and distillation columns this removes the temperature-induced errors and the response lag of long capillary fills, delivering more accurate and repeatable DP-level readings, faster response, simpler installation and lower maintenance.
Built on the 3051S SuperModule platform, the seal/level ERS transmitter (3051SAL) offers reference accuracy of 0.055% of span (Ultra) or 0.065% (Classic) with 150:1 rangedown, and the family provides 15-year long-term stability (±0.15% of URL for 15 years) and IEC 61508 SIL 2/SIL 3 capability. The ERS System runs on 16.0 to 42.4 V DC, tolerates ambient temperatures from -40 to 85°C, offers static pressure ratings to 10,000 psi, and its enclosure meets NEMA 4X, IP66 and IP68. Isolating (seal) diaphragms are available in 316L SST, Alloy C-276, Alloy 400 and Tantalum with a range of fill fluids.

ERS = Electronic Remote Sensor. It measures differential pressure (for level) using two 3051S pressure sensor modules connected by an electrical cable — the electronics compute DP digitally instead of using two oil-filled capillary lines feeding a single DP cell.
