The Endress+Hauser Micropilot FMR51 radar level transmitter is one of the best-known free-space radars for continuous, non-contact level measurement of liquids, pastes and slurries. The unit offered here was built in October 2019 at the Endress+Hauser factory in Maulburg, Germany, is entirely new, and is held physically in Barmaan's warehouse; every "Barmaan stock" photograph in the gallery on this page is of this specific device, and its nameplate, showing extended order code FMR51-BAACCABDA5YYY+ABEMPB and the build date 2019-10, is legible in the images.
Free-space radar operates in the K band (around 26 GHz): a microwave pulse is emitted from the horn antenna, reflects off the liquid surface, and the distance is derived from the signal's time of flight. Because there is no contact with the medium, the measurement is independent of temperature, pressure, density, and any gases or vapors above the surface. Endress+Hauser's Multi-Echo Tracking follows the true level echo even in the presence of interference echoes from agitators, heating coils or vessel walls.
Per official datasheet TI01040F, the maximum measured error of the standard version is only ±2 mm, and the measuring range extends to 40 m (or to 70 m with the Advanced Dynamics software package). This unit is supplied with a DN125 PN16 flange to EN 1092-1 in 316L; maximum working pressure is 16 bar, maximum process temperature is +150 °C, and the wetted parts are 316L, PTFE and FKM — a combination well suited to chemical and refinery applications.
This device is the intrinsically safe (Ex ia) version: per its nameplate it carries ATEX approval in class II 1G Ex ia IIC T6…T1 Ga for direct installation in Zone 0/1, with a 10.4 to 30 V DC two-wire supply and a 4–20 mA HART output. IP68/IP66 ingress protection allows installation outdoors and in harsh ambient conditions. Commissioning is performed through a step-by-step menu on the local display or over HART, and interference-echo suppression (mapping) takes only a few minutes.

Per its nameplate this unit has a 4–20 mA output with the HART protocol (two-wire, loop-powered) and is compatible with all common DCS/PLC systems (Siemens, ABB, Yokogawa, Emerson and others) as well as with HART calibrators and configurators.
