The Endress+Hauser Promass 80F is a Coriolis mass flow measuring system for the highly accurate, simultaneous measurement of mass flow, density and medium temperature of liquids and gases in demanding process plants. The measuring principle is based on the controlled generation of Coriolis forces: an exciter sets the two parallel measuring tubes into anti-phase oscillation, and the mass flowing through them produces a phase shift between the inlet and outlet halves of the tubes that is directly proportional to mass flow. Because the principle works directly on mass, the reading is inherently independent of temperature, pressure, viscosity, conductivity and flow profile, so no inlet or outlet straight runs are required.
This listing covers Promass 80F sensors in nominal diameter DN80 (3"); six of the seven have their order code read directly off the nameplate (prefix 80F80). The 80F designation is the Promass F sensor — the robust, high-performance workhorse of the Promass family, with dual curved measuring tubes. Wetted parts on the standard units are stainless steel 316L (1.4404) with 904L (1.4539) manifolds; two of the units carry Alloy C-22 (2.4602 / N06022) flanges, stamped into the flange edge. The stainless secondary containment (sensor housing) is pressure-rated as a safety barrier.
The 80 transmitter delivers a 4-20 mA current output with HART digital communication plus a pulse/frequency output, driving a two-line local display. Measuring accuracy for mass flow of liquids is up to +/-0.10 % of reading (down to +/-0.05 % with the optional PremiumCal calibration), volume flow +/-0.15 %, and density +/-0.0005 g/cm3. Standard medium temperature is -50 to +200 C; ambient temperature is -20 to +60 C; housing protection is IP67 / NEMA 4X.
The stock covers four flange ratings — EN/DIN PN40, ASME B16.5 Class 150, ASME B16.5 Class 300 and JIS 10K — so a wide range of process conditions can be matched; the rating stated for each unit is the one stamped into its own flange, and on two units that number is not the same as the factory order code because the meter was re-flanged — both numbers are given on the unit itself. The units carry hazardous-area approvals (ATEX II 2G / II 2D, IECEx; nameplates show ATEX BVS 06.0019X). It is a Coriolis mass flowmeter that measures mass flow, density and medium temperature of liquids and gases simultaneously, and derives volume flow. The measurement is based directly on mass, so it is independent of fluid properties.
For the Promass F sensor, mass flow of liquids is measured to within ±0.10% of reading, improving to ±0.05% with the optional PremiumCal calibration. Volume flow is ±0.15% and density ±0.0005 g/cm³, per the official Endress+Hauser Technical Information.
