The Endress+Hauser Proline Promass 83E in DN80 (3") belongs to the Promass E family — Endress+Hauser's compact, cost-optimised line for standard process-industry duties. The unit offered here was manufactured in 2018, is entirely new, and is held physically in Barmaan's warehouse; every "Barmaan stock" photograph in the gallery on this page is of this specific device, and its transmitter and sensor nameplates, carrying order code 83E80-6H80/0, are legible in those images. Two new physical units of this model are currently in Barmaan's warehouse (both 2018 builds).
Coriolis measurement is independent of the physical properties of the fluid. Two parallel measuring tubes are driven at their resonant frequency; as the medium flows through them a phase shift proportional to mass flow develops, while the resonant frequency itself is a direct function of medium density. The result is simultaneous multivariable measurement — mass flow, volume flow, density and temperature — at a single point in the line, with no straight upstream or downstream runs required.
The Promass E sensor is designed for the lowest cost of ownership and is an ideal replacement for volumetric flowmeters: measuring tubes in 1.4539 (904L) stainless steel with 1.4404 (316L) connections, a base accuracy of ±0.15% of reading on liquids (±0.10% with the calibration option), ±0.075% repeatability, 18 kg/h zero point stability at DN80, and a flow range up to 180,000 kg/h. The sensor housing is filled with dry nitrogen and carries a 15 bar reference pressure rating. Medium temperature runs from −40 to +140 °C, medium density up to 5000 kg/m³, and the flanges are DIN/EN 1092-1 in PN40. The E family is offered from DN8 to DN80, of which DN80 is the largest.
The Proline 83 transmitter, with its four-line backlit display and optical Touch Control keys, allows the instrument to be operated in full without opening the housing cover — even in a hazardous area. Quick Setup menus cut commissioning to a few minutes, and the 83 version additionally provides calculated variables such as fluid concentration. Supply on this unit is the low-voltage variant: 20 to 55 V AC or 16 to 62 V DC (under 15 VA/W), with a 4–20 mA HART output plus pulse/frequency.
This device carries ATEX and IECEx approval with protection class Ex d[ia] IIC T1-T6 (gas, II2G) and Ex tD A21 IP6X (dust, II2D) for installation in hazardous areas, IP67 (NEMA 4X) ingress protection, and SIL 2 functional safety per IEC 61508 — a combination that makes it a dependable and cost-effective choice for the oil, gas, petrochemical, chemical and food industries.

The unit is entirely new (new / unused), manufactured by Endress+Hauser in 2018, and is currently held physically in Barmaan's warehouse. The photographs on this page — including the transmitter nameplate and the sensor nameplate showing order code 83E80-6H80/0 — were all taken of this very device in the Barmaan warehouse.
Both are twin-tube Coriolis flowmeters using the same Proline 83 transmitter; the difference is in the sensor. Promass E is Endress+Hauser's compact, cost-optimised line for standard duties: ±0.15% of reading accuracy, medium temperature to +140 °C, and sizes DN8 to DN80. Promass F is the higher-tier sensor: ±0.10% accuracy, medium temperature to +200 °C, a rugged secondary containment and larger sizes. If your application is a standard one, the 83E delivers the same Coriolis measurement quality at a lower cost. Both models (83E and 83F in DN80) are currently in Barmaan's warehouse.
Per its nameplate this unit has a 4–20 mA current output with the HART protocol plus a pulse/frequency output, and is compatible with all common DCS/PLC systems (Siemens, ABB, Yokogawa, Emerson and others). One important note: the supply on this unit is the low-voltage variant (20 to 55 V AC or 16 to 62 V DC) — check the supply at your installation against that specification before mounting. Other versions of the Promass 83 family also support PROFIBUS PA/DP, FOUNDATION Fieldbus and Modbus RS485.
Yes. The Promass 83E Coriolis flowmeter is designed for both liquids and gases; per the official datasheet, mass flow accuracy on gas is ±0.75% of reading, and the gas full scale depends on the operating density (per the formula in the datasheet).
