The Endress+Hauser Proline Promass 83F Coriolis mass flowmeter in size DN80 (3") is one of the best-known and most proven mass flow instruments in the process industries. This page carries eight Promass 83F sensors in nominal diameter DN80 (3"), each photographed plate by plate in the Barmaan warehouse: eight different order codes, all with the prefix 83F80, seven built in 2019 and one in 2018 — the last year digit on that one unit is abraded on the plate; they are second-hand instruments, physically in stock, and the gallery shows the actual devices rather than a catalogue photograph.
The Coriolis measuring principle operates independently of the fluid's physical properties: two parallel measuring tubes are excited at their resonance frequency, and passing fluid creates a phase shift proportional to mass flow, while the resonance frequency itself is a direct function of fluid density. The result is simultaneous measurement of four variables (mass flow, volume flow, density and temperature) at a single point in the line — with no straight inlet or outlet runs required.
The Promass F sensor is the heart of the device: measuring tubes in 1.4539 (904L) stainless steel, base accuracy of ±0.10% o.r. for liquids (down to ±0.05% with PremiumCal calibration), ±0.05% repeatability, zero point stability of only 9 kg/h at DN80, and a flow range up to 180,000 kg/h. The dry-nitrogen-filled secondary containment is rated 25 bar (375 psi) on four of the eight units and 40 bar (580 psi) on the other four — the figure printed on each unit's own sensor plate, and repeated on its card. Medium temperature spans −50 to +200 °C on every plate, and the flanges in stock cover three ratings — DIN/EN PN 40, ASME B16.5 Class 150 and ASME B16.5 Class 300 — the rating on each unit's card being the one read off that unit's own plate, confirmed on four of them by the stamp rolled into the fitted flange.
The Proline 83 transmitter with its 4-line backlit display and optical Touch Control keys allows full operation without opening the cover — even in hazardous areas. Quick Setup menus cut commissioning down to minutes, and the advanced software functions of the 83 version include concentration measurement, batching/dosing and extended diagnostics. Four of the eight units had their transmitter plate photographed and all four read 85–260 V AC, 50-60 Hz, 15 VA/W with a 4–20 mA HART output plus a pulse/frequency output; the other four were photographed on the sensor plate only, which carries no supply, no output and no Ex data, so ask before you specify a power feed for those.
The four transmitter plates photographed carry ATEX and IECEx approval with Ex d[ia] IIC T1-T6 protection (certificates DMT 00 ATEX E 074 X and IECEx BVS 06.0019X) for hazardous-area installation; IP67 (NEMA 4X) ingress protection and SIL 2 functional safety per IEC 61508 are model-line ratings from the Endress+Hauser technical information TI00101D, and the plates themselves print only the Ex dust marking IP6X.

They are second-hand (used) instruments, physically in the Barmaan warehouse. Seven of the eight photographed units carry 2019 on their sensor plate and one carries 2018 — on that one the last digit is abraded, so 2018 is the better-supported reading rather than a certain one. No per-unit inspection grading has been recorded yet, so nothing on this page claims a condition beyond "used"; you are welcome to inspect any unit at the warehouse. The photographs are of these actual devices: eight order codes, all with the prefix 83F80.
Both generations use the same proven Promass F sensor; the main difference is the transmitter: the 83 uses the second-generation Proline platform with a 4-line Touch Control display, while the 300/500 uses the newer platform with Heartbeat Technology and a web server. The Promass 83F was the industry standard for years, its documentation and parts remain available, and it is the ideal, cost-effective choice as a one-to-one replacement at sites already running this model.
Four of the eight units had their transmitter plate photographed, and all four print a 4–20 mA current output with the HART protocol plus a pulse/frequency output (I-OUT, f-OUT), fed from 85–260 V AC at 50-60 Hz. The other four were photographed on the sensor plate only, which carries no output or supply data — tell us which unit interests you and we will read its transmitter plate before quoting. Other versions of the Promass 83 family also support PROFIBUS PA/DP, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, Modbus RS485 and EtherNet/IP, and the 4–20 mA HART build works with all common DCS/PLC systems.
Yes. The Promass 83F Coriolis flowmeter is designed for both liquids and gases; per the official datasheet, gas mass flow accuracy is ±0.35% o.r. For gases, the allowable pressure drop and operating density must be considered in sizing — Barmaan engineers perform sizing calculations free of charge.
Yes, for the units whose transmitter plate we have photographed. All four of those carry ATEX and IECEx approval with Ex d[ia] IIC T1-T6 and Ex tD A21 IP6X protection (certificates DMT 00 ATEX E 074 X and IECEx BVS 06.0019X), suitable for Zone 1/21 installation. The other four units were photographed on the sensor plate, which carries no Ex marking — we will read the transmitter plate of whichever unit you choose and state its certification in the proforma. Ex documentation is delivered with the goods.
